What 2IA will not do
The correction process exists to repair the public record, not to erase accurate public-interest information or promise a legal result.
No convenience-based removal
Accurate public-interest information is not removed merely because it is embarrassing, commercially inconvenient, politically unwelcome, or critical of an institution.
No unsupported demand treated as proof
A demand, denial, threat, or assertion is evaluated as a claim. Stronger evidence receives more weight than status, pressure, or repetition.
No unnecessary publication of submission details
Private correspondence, contact details, and unrelated personal information are not published without a clear public-interest reason and appropriate permission or legal basis.
Practical checklist
Privacy repair may still be appropriate when
- A page identifies the wrong person.
- The public-interest point can be made with less personal detail.
- A minor, victim, bystander, medical detail, or residential identifier is unnecessarily exposed.
- A correction should propagate to another public page or downloadable file.
